Citrus Harvest near Bayview, Texas

These are pictures of orange harvest. The grapefruit are harvested the same way and are also ready at the same time. If you see Rio Grande citrus it is from Texas. The harvest is at the peak right now.
The trees are planted in rows, just like the apple trees at Gays Mills. These trees are on very flat land, and are planted a little farther apart to get the tractor with the crates between the rows.
The workers  are very busy getting the fruit off the trees. The citrus is hand picked. They reach what they can from the ground, but also have to climb on ladders. The workers use a big bag they hang around their neck. The fruit is put in the top of the bag. When they reach the crate, they untie a big string that lets the bottom of the bag loose and the citrus falls out into the crate.
When the crates are full , they are lifted with a forklift one by one and stacked on a truck .It is then hauled to a place where it fruit is washed ,sorted , hand packed and sent around the world.
