The Los Fresnos Rodeo was held the weekend of Feb 4, 5, and 6. I went Saturday for the 7pm Rodeo. It was put on by the PRCA. There were very few local contestants, most were with the rodeo company. It was different from the rodeo during Wild West Days in Viroqua, WI, yet a little similar. They started out with The National Anthem while a drill team performed. Then it was a set of bull riding. They also did steer wrestling, bareback bronc riding, calf tying ( calf roping) saddle bronc riding, barrel racing and girls and boys calf scramble. Then finished with bull riding and fireworks.
The calf scramble has about 12 girls ( or boys) in the arena. They let in at least that many calves with a red ribbon on each tail. The kids run to grab a ribbon off a tail.
After the fireworks there was a Cowboy Church service, for about 15 minutes.
During the days they also had their county fair going on with kids showing 4H and FFA livestock.
